“Mystic Lake is the deepest lake in the Beartooth Mountains. It has the largest sandy beach in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and is a wonderful destination for a day hike. Mystic Lake Trail is a 5.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Roscoe, Montana that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May - October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Fishing at Mystic Lake is excellent, and although the Rainbow Trout are small (6-8 inches), they are tons of fun. The Montana Fish Wildlife, & Parks keeps Mystic Lake stocked with Rainbow Trout, which are usually easy to catch.”
