A great place to hike right in Gerton, NC. Choose to hike either Little Pisgah or Little Bearwallow Mountain, go to Wildcat Rock, or be extreme and do them both.

To date, Conserving Carolina has opened over 13 miles of trails in the Upper Hickory Nut Gorge. These trails reach towering waterfalls, panoramic vistas, spectacular wildflowers, pristine mountain streams, scenic grassy balds, and cliffs that host rock and ice climbing.

This 3-mile trail climbs about 1,800 feet in elevation, taking you to a 100-foot waterfall, towering cliffs and a panoramic lookout point from Wildcat Rock. It ends in a highland grassland atop Little Bearwallow Mountain, elevation 3,980 feet. It opened in April 2017. From the parking area, cross the road to begin the hike. Look for the Little Bearwallow Mountain trail marker. The first part of the trail follows a wood fence through an orchard. Follow the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy orange blazes.
