From May to September the machair is a blaze of Hebridean wildflowers and the more energetic will enjoy the climb up Ceapabhal. It is only 298m asl but the views in all directions are stunning.

Take a choice . A walk on the machair and on the beaches or a climb to the summit of Ceapabhal, from where, on a clear day, St Kilda can be seen.

Beaches Guests should consider visiting the great beaches in Harris. But beyond Luskentyre and Scarista beachthere are what I call the "secret beaches" of Harris. To get to them, drive south on the A859 to Northton. Along the way you will pass Luskentyre and a string of beaches. Take a right turn into Northton and drive east until you find the beach at the end of the road where you may find parking. You should then walk east along the path that skirts the shore, keeping Capeval (the mountainous Headland), to your right, for approx one mile, until you reach the ruined medieval chapel. Along the way you will see several stunning beaches.
