A majestic World Heritage Site located near the town of Soufrière, the twin spires of the Pitons are the very essence of St. Lucia. The pyramid-shaped Gros Piton and Petit Piton peaks rising from the sapphire blue waters are the remnants of heavy volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. Certainly, the island's best feature, the Gros Piton hike, is an experience unlike any other. The 3.2-mile trail with colorful wildflowers, plant and animal life is a must for avid hikers. View the peaks from a different angle as you dive, drive, cruise, hike, or take a guided tour; the scenery of the mighty mountains on this charming island will make you fall in love with its ethereal beauty.

Climb the iconic Piton - a moderately strenuous (ca 4 hours round trip) hike. Afterwards relax in the hot springs and enjoy a waterfall massage.

This site is approximately 30-40 minutes drive from the villa and we can arrange transportation and tours for your convenience. Gros Piton is at the southern end of Pitons Bay. It is the second-highest peak on Saint Lucia, after Mount Gimie. Gros Piton can be climbed without ropes or mountaineering experience. One can hike to the summit and come back down to the sea-level within several hours. Local guides are available for hire and are trained by the government to have basic knowledge of the languages common among tourists and of the medical procedures required in case of accidents.

The Pitons, St Lucia’s twin volcanic peaks, are certainly her best-known features, and a Gros Piton hike is an experience unlike any other. Gros Piton rises 2,619 feet from the sea and, coupled with Petit Piton, is the hallmark of St Lucia’s western coast.
