You will love this hidden gem. Wear tennis shoes as you will be walking on the lava fields. Very spiritual place!

Drive to Makena and keep on going until you just can't drive anymore! Past La Perouse Bay take Makena Alunaui Road and park in the small gravel lot at the ocean's edge. See the fields of the lava flow on your way there, and maybe some dolphins upon arrival if....you are early enough!

This is a hidden gem. A little hard to get to but once you get there, you'll be in awe. You'll see the lava fields that clearly show the lava pathways down the west side of Haleakala.

Really interesting to hike along and see the history. Recommend good shoes and terrain is rocky

Everywhere you look is black lava. You can look up the hill to see where the lava erupted thru the cone. After driving on the road thru the lava fields, there is a walking trail and beaches.
