Tonic is a rare bird in Santa Fe: a sophisticated, grown-up jazz bar (particularly because it is absolutely for those 21 and over, no exceptions) that isn’t embarrassed to dress up for a Friday night. Patrons are, in fact, encouraged to dress up — Greene himself is an adorable anachronism, frequently spotted wearing suits, and has built himself an environment in which he fits perfectly, like a character from the kind of old movie that makes you say, “Those were the days.” He’s toying with the idea of doing an 8-9-10 promotion, meaning after 8 p.m., if you dress to the nines, you get a 10 percent discount.
