Mount Pilchuck Trail is a 6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Granite Falls, Washington that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, nature trips, and snowshoeing and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

This short but challenging 5.4-mile round-trip hike summits at a historic fire lookout shelter with views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympics. You'll want real hiking boots and some fitness and experience for this hike; check in with the ranger station before you head up. To park, you'll need an annual Northwest Forest pass ($30) or National Parks day pass ($5), purchased ahead of time online or at a Forest Service office. It's a rewarding climb, but this one is not recommended for novices.

Super cool little shack on the top of the mountain, but will need a hefty car to drive up to the parking lot (potholes).

Mt Pilchuck is one of my personal favorite hikes in the area. It's relatively close to the city. There is an amazing view and a fire lookout at the top! Due to the elevation, snow can arrive in late spring and last into the summer at the top. Definitely check out the Washington Trails Association (wta.org) website for recent trip reports and more details (including photos) on the hike.
