One of only 7 in the world swimming pools that fill with ocean water. Was recently redone.
This spot is a local swimming pool filled naturally with ocean water. It started as the foundation to a 60's restaurant ruined by a storm local children played in the ruins for years until the city of Mazatlán renovated it into a public pool. The best part is it's a free attraction.
Originally built on 1915 and inspired by sea pools in Lisbon, the Carpa Olivera was a social center on Olas Altas beach in the Historic Center of Mazatlan. Many famous people of that time gathered and socialized here, and it was a must for every tourist. In 1954 it was devastated by a hurricane and restored in 2015.
Walk to the end of our street and you come out at Carpa Olivera where you can swim in the open ocean pool, walk the Malecon, or sit and breathe the cool ocean air.
