High Woods Country Park is one of Colchester's beauty spots. The park provides habitats for thousands of different birds and mammals, including woodland, a lake, wildflower meadows, marshes, hayfields, scrubland, and open spaces (ideal for picnics). 174 Turner Rd, Colchester CO4 5JR

With easy access car parking (small fee) the wooded area can be enjoyed on foot or cycle. Fishing by permit in the lake. Organised walks on Fridays and Sundays. On-site light refreshments, gift shop and picnic site. Also public toilets.

You can walk here from the retreat or drive up for another view of nature. Several access points to get into the park.
