Part of the Golden Gate National Parks, the site at Fort Baker was originally inhabited by native Miwok tribes. From the early 1900s, the site was used as an active army post until World War II. Nestled on a forested coastal site at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Baker includes 25 historic army buildings and a sheltered harbor with waterfront paths and trails along scenic bluffs.

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, this old army base hosts a beautiful hotel with an amazing restaurant. Sit outside on the veranda and enjoy fabulous food and wonderful drinks. There are spectacular views of the bridge and San Francisco from here.

Lots to do and see here. Great views of San Francisco and access to the Bay Area Children’s Museum. Sausalito can get very crowded but it’s a very cute part of Marin worth visiting. Gateway to Mt. Tam and other Marin County beauties.

A great alternative to the over crowded parking area on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Provides an excellent view from beneath the bridge. See the photo on the cover of this guide.
