Stunning well looked after gardens run by the local council. Pretty colours and flowers everywhere well worth a walk around.
For those with green fingers, this is a must-see! Beautiful plants and flowers tended with care by the local community.
These gardens in Craigmore were recently described as having the "best display of summer bedding anywhere in Scotland". These beautiful walled gardens and glasshouses are at their finest in July and August. There are a number of aviaries housing a range of exotic bird species that have been built to provide further interest - these are very popular with visiting children! In recent years, due to council cut backs, Ardencraig Gardens have been under threat of closure. We recommend you show your support of these wonderful gardens by making it a "must see" during your holiday on Bute.

The existing gardens originally formed part of the larger layout designed by Percy Cane for the owners of Ardencraig House. The walled garden was acquired by Rothesay Town council in 1970,and latterly by Argyll and Bute Council, and has been developed to create a propagation ,education and show garden. Extensive bedding and fuchsia displays contain some of the best cultivars available.
