This is a great place to take your pet for an outdoorsy kind of walk and even a dip in the river, if they like to swim.

Norm’s Island in the Yellowstone is where I walk my dog every day. If you go out the front door, turn left and then left again on the street, you can walk about 4 blocks down to where you’ll see The Songbird Community Garden. The walking trail to Norm’s Island is right there and the island is only .5 miles away. Once you’re on the island, dogs can be off leash! The loop around the island is 1.8-miles long. It usually takes 50 minutes to walk (door to door).

A great flat-hiking loop on the edge of the Yellowstone River. Our favorite place to go for family walks!

Norms Island has over two miles of trails and is a popular walking spot, with or without dogs. Flooded annually by the Yellowstone River in the Spring, the island is a good example of floodplain ecology. Very Dog friendly.
