Walk to the river Wye from our Holiday Home, join the footpath leading down to the river, along the back lane and down a stoney track to the left of the property, Wyeside. Benches available to look for wildlife, or take blankets for a picnic. Always bring litter and food scraps home with you. Hay-on-Wye also has a longer walk along the Wye, called 'The Warren', starts at the back of the Three Tuns Pub.

River Wye Walk A 136-mile long walking route of startling contrasts from ravine gorge cloaked in woodland, through meadow and orchard, to rugged and remote uplands. To access the walk, come out of River Cottage and turn right, heading toward the village. Just before you get to the Village Store, cross the road to the Village Green and take the path to the Redbrook Bridge. Cross the bridge itself and then you are on the Wye River Walk trail. You can choose to pass the pub on your left and catch the walk heading towards Monmouth, or to head the opposite direction you need to go under the bridge to pick it up. There are cattle and sheep on some parts of this walk. It is mainly easy walking with some intermediate parts.

What can we say about the Wye? Stunning is the only true word to describe it.

The Wye Valley is a rural retreat with some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Britain. As well as the dramatic scenery and wonderful wildlife that come with being a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you’ll find an abundance of family-friendly outdoor adventures including cycling, kayaking and walking. In fact, it was here, in the market town of Ross-on-Wye, that tourism as we know it was invented. Over 250 years later, the lure of the Wye Valley is just as strong.
