This is a beautiful church near the colosseum you should ABSOLUTELY visit. It has three layers: the lowest is a Roman Domus, on top of it is built a Paleochristian church, and on top of that there is a baroque church! I think it’s emblematic of Rome and it’s multilayered history.

Only a few steps from MICLAD B&B, among the wonders of Underground Rome, the Basilica of San Clemente is absolutely one of the most extraordinary, ancient and important places in the whole city.

Archaeologically speaking, the structure is a three-tiered complex of buildings: Middle Ages - Mithraeum - Foundations of republican era villa. Very interesting and unique place.
