San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest Chinatown outside Asia and the oldest in USA. Just across Columbus Street which divides Chinatown from Northbeach you can explore a different world. Grant Ave is more commercial, Stockton Street has an incredible offering of fresh produce and meat. A walking tour can give you an appreciation of the history.

Chinatown is an enjoyable walk from Van Ness House. You can get there quickly by walking through the Broadway tunnel up and over Russian Hill. You'll see spectacular views if you walk on Vallejo street.
