The Foothills opened in spring of 2021 and it's a favorite among locals. The menu is simple, fresh, and delicious, and the service is warm and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and an ice cream counter in the back of the cafe. There is also a professional workspace with wifi, the Sandwich Works room.

Our interpretive exhibits, presentations, and nature trails on the 200 acre wildlife sanctuary (including over 5,000 feet of pristine shoreline on Lake Winnipesaukee), give visitors an introduction to the natural environment of New Hampshire and promote a greater understanding of loons and the natural world.

There are trash bins on the back porch. However, the smell of trash in the bins can attract bears. Yes, bears. The town transfer station/recycling center is open Friday, Saturday, and Wednesday from 8am to 4pm AND on Sunday from 8am to 11am. *You MUST have the town guest pass on display on your car dashboard in order to leave trash/recycling at the transfer station. * Recyclables MUST be separated from regular trash- see instructions posted on the wall in the kitchen, above recycling bin.
