Machiya near Palace - A day in Khaki Muromachi (W)

As featured on the NYTimes T list, this property is a "Kyomachiya", a traditional Japanese home over 100 years old. It has been revamped from a "Nishijin-ori" (traditional Japanese textile) factory. It is located in the traditional Kamigyo Ward, minutes walk from the Imperial Palace. We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.

This house is almost 100 years old house and it has been just renovated in April 2017. The house was designed by the architect who loves the traditional machiya house. Close to subway Karasuma-Oike station, three stops from Kyoto station. Easy to do shopping, eating, sightseeing. Drug store and the grocery store is located in 5 minutes walking distance. This Taishian house is whole house rent and you don't share any room with others. Family and group welcome!!
