Go behind the scenes at The Lakes’ state-of-the-art distillery where their whiskymaker's unique approach comes to life. Accompanied by an expert tour guide, you can explore the Still Room, learn about the impact of oak and cask seasoning on flavour creation, and discover how to make The Lakes whisky, gin, and vodka. Afterwards, guests over the age of 18 are invited to finish the tour by enjoying a hosted tasting of three of The Lakes’ spirits, with the opportunity to visit the distillery shop (every Adult tour ticket includes £5 off any 70cl bottle in store).The Bistro at the Distillery aims to embrace the spirit of the Lake District, which is achieved by using regional ingredients where possible and having a key focus on freshness, flavour and simplicity. The Bistro also caters for all pockets, providing handmade cakes from qualified patisserie chefs, steak nights and gin afternoon teas.

If you like a tipple or two, I can highly recommend a visit to the Lakes Distillery. They offer a wide range of ‘The Lakes’ whiskies, gins and vodka, as well as hosting interactive tours of the distillery.

The Lakes Distillery is Cumbria’s only distillery producing the Lakes Gin, the Lakes Vodka, the ONE (a British Isles blended whisky) and what will become our signature spirit, the Lakes Malt (first bottle due in 2018). Opened in December 2014, The Lakes Distillery is housed in a beautiful restored Victorian cattle farm, with handmade copper stills and an award-winning on-site Bistro. As one of the ‘best new distilleries in the world’ (Time Out, New York), The Lakes Distillery offers a first class visitors centre with whisky tours & tutored tastings alongside a superb selection of hand-crafted spirits.

The Bistro at the Lakes Distillery offers superior lunches, afternoon teas and dinner selections. There are also tours of the distillery with tasting sessions available afterward.
