Home of huge Joshua Tree forests and the unforgettable Kelso Dunes. Fill up car with gas and water and head out there! This is great for a mini road day trip.

Great for a day trip. Very different terrain than what the park has to offer. Exquisite and amazing.

A very large and remote 'Park' with very little amenities. Be prepared with plenty of water and fuel.

An incredible preserve in the eastern Mojave Desert. Here you'll find "singing" sand dunes, lava tube caves, stunning mountains, vast Joshua tree forests (some burned during the wildfire season of 2020, unfortunately), the Mojave Cross, the Kelso Depot (the National Park Service's visitor center in an old railroad depot), volcanic cinder cones and lava fields, and much more. There's no services in the preserve, so gas up, and bring food and water with you.

The preserve starts down Amboy Road and continues about 100 miles. Some of the post peaceful scenes and desolation.
