The villa was built by Roman Emperor Hadrian at the foot of the Tiburtine Hills between 118 and 138 AD. It is one of the best kept and most visited archaeological sites in Italy. This is why it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

I know, Rome is full of archaeological sites, why should I go all the way to Tivoli to see a Roman Villa? Simply because Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli (50 km east of Rome) is one of the most extraordinary places you will be able to see. It is an imperial residence, or perhaps we could say a small village, built by the Emperor Hadrian around 135 AD. There aren't many words to describe the beauty of this place where you can spend a few hours strolling through a vast network of streets, buildings and truly breathtaking scenery. Great added value is the tranquility: it is rare to find crowds in Villa Adriana and the peace in which you can visit this place will add even more magic and beauty to your visit.
