If you enjoy history, beautiful old buildings, or just like Iowa, this is a great spot to visit. You'll see the restored chambers where the Iowa legislature once convened. It's quite lovely. Hours are limited.

Iowa City was the capitol of Iowa until 1857. Interested in learning more? Here's the place. Next door is MacBride Hall, which houses the Natural History Museum.

Original capitol of Iowa, renovated. Visit while walking downtown Iowa City and learn more about Iowa's early European settlers.

When it was decided to move the capitol to Des Moines to be more central, the building was gifted to the University. It was the first building and is still the heart and soul of campus.
