Today the Printery stands as New Zealand’s oldest industrial building, as well as the oldest of rammed-earth construction, distinctly French in style and making use of local materials including sand, rock and timber.

Take a guided tour of the French Catholic Mission house where the first Maori language bibles were printed by Bishop Pompallier's Marist Brothers and bound in leather tanned on site.
Great part of New Zealand history. Gift shop, cafe and guided site tours. The cafe here offers freshly baked croissants and pastries a must to visit in Russell.
I really enjoyed the tour through Pompallier House and learnt a lot about the history of Russell. Their gardens are lovely and afterwards there is the gift shop and also a Cafe. They serve up good coffee and their pastries are just the best! Beautiful setting and the views are awesome!
