THE RIDE: 7-mile out and back on gravel road or 8.5 mile loop with lower Lake Road and Kellogg Rd. HIGHLIGHTS: Coastal dunes, forest, wildlife in freshwater ponds, elk and historic Indian village site. SWEAT LEVEL: Moderate with small hills. Gravel road with some sandy spots. GETTING THERE: From Crescent City, take 101 north to Kings Valley Rd and head west. Continue straight into Morehead rd until it meets Lower Lake Rd. Take a right. Take an immediate left on Kellogg Rd. Trailhead is 0.5 mile west on your left. Continue north on Lower Lake Rd for Pala Rd trail head.

Wild protected state park with an abundance of native birdlife, wide expanse of open beach that you can drive on (Use a 4 wheel drive).
