This historic feature was built by the British at the start of the 1900's and spans the whole length of northern Malta, from Bahrija in the west, right down to Bahar ic-Caghaq, in the process passing through Rabat, Mosta and our picturesque little village of Gharghur where these fortifications are at their most striking. They were originally meant to ward off a possible attack from the north during the 2 world wars but nowadays is a popular scenic trail for hikers and tourists alike.

Victoria lines were built by the British, Malta has 250 years of colonisation history by the Brits, so you will find quite a lot of buildings, forts and defences built by them. Victoria lines stopped being use for its original defensive job and later on started being used to land small aeroplanes of the time. You can walk the 12km wall and the first landmark you'll see is 'Fort bingemma' and later on you can see Bingemma's high viewpoint in front of 'The itra chapel'. If you want directions, Google a Victoria lines legend and it will send you to google maps!
