Part of the colossal Columbia Icefield that bestrides the continental divide in Banff and Jasper national parks, the Athabasca Glacier is the most visited in North America. It is easily visible from the Icefields Parkway, about 100 km (62 mi) south of the town of Jasper and about a 3-hour drive from our cabin. The Toe of the Glacier short hike is an easy walk that offers an opportunity to hike right up to the toe of a glacier and see crevasses from a distance, glacial pools, streams and moraines.

Check out the Athabasca Glacier at the Columbia Icefields on the Banff-Jasper Highway (look up "Brewster" online). They also have a skywalk attraction as well.
