Beautiful National Trust Woods with beautiful river flowing through. Free parking available. Perfect for furry friends who are accompanying you on your visit to The Nook.

It is yet another beautiful woodland walk. It’s great for a rainy day as the woods provide some shelter. But it will be muddy ! Routes to the hill fort and river are signposted. It is a sheep free (usually) woodland walk with swimming spots. No loos or cafe. Free parking but it is popular in summer months. For food and loos consider visiting the monastery at Buckfastleigh which has both and is about five minutes by car from the woods just off the road back to Totnes. Hembury Wood is about a 20 minute drive from us near Buckfastleigh

Beautiful woodland with great views from the hill fort at the top, and a particularly lovely stretch of the River Dart at the bottom. 15mins drive.

Hembury Woods is a beautiful ancient woodland only 20-30 minute walk from Skyber Barn or 5 minute drive. There is a stunning stretch of river perfect for wild swimming and an iron age hillfort at the top of the woods. There's lots of wildlife to be seen including rare butterflies and birds, including several species of fritillary butterfly in the summer and kingfishers on the river.
