La Tonnara di Avola, the old fishing hub that used to be Sicily's most valuable economic tradition. Only a ruin is left, but in recent years the area has flurished again to new hights with lots of excellent restaurants (fish mostly), enoteca's and bars where you can enjoy your apertivo after the beach right there by the ocean.

Meravigliosa archidettura industriale della sicilia dell'800, una delle poche strutture in sicilia dove veniva pescato e lavorato il tonno, si trova sul mare attaccata al porto dei pescatori ed al vecchio villaggio dei pescatori oggi diventato un quartiere turistico pieno di ristoranti e bar, si può godere anche di una delle più belle spiagge della costa. Einmal unbedingt die Küstenstraße von Avola befahren und am Ende an der Tonnara einen Frühstücks Café trinken, Fisch kaufen, Sundowner trinken oder Abendessen gehen:  Von Fontane Bianche Richtung Avola und nach dem Krankenhaus am Kreisel links in die Via Sandro Pertini abbiegen. Es folgt eine kilometerlange wunderschöne Küstenstraße bis man irgendwann an eine T-Kreuzung kommt und ihr links in die Via Miramare abbiegt. Linker Hand liegen die Ruinen einer alten Thunfisch Fabrik und gerade aus auf der Mole gibt es Parkplätze.  Der Fischladen an der Ecke verkauft sehr frischen und leckeren Fisch in größter Auswahl. Drum herum gibt es mehrere kleine Bars, die mit Drinks und Chips versorgen.
