Around 25 mins from Napier City. It offers walking tracks around the coast, both north and south gives access to a variety of small bays and Aropaoanui beach to the north. On a clear day you can see from Mahia Peninsula to Cape Kidnappers. Bush walks in the Waipatiki valley take you through now rare examples of coastal bush with 600year old kahikatea trees, nikau palms and numerous other native species with abundant bird life such as kereru, fantails, tui and bellbirds. If you don't feel like walking you can spend the day at the beach and hire a boogie board from the local.

The Waipatiki Scenic Reserve contains 64 hectares of coastal bush with nikau palms dominat
