For those who love history, McDowell Co has lots of it! Just a few miles from Blueberry Hill is the Historic Carson House. Davy Crockett and Pres Andrew Jackson were regular visitors. Open for tours Spring to late Fall.

Built in 1793 and on the NC Civil War Trail, Home is open as a museum.

Built in the late 1700's, the two-story mansion offers a delightful walk through the Carson family's experience in the Revolutionary War, Native American struggles, the Civil War, the North Carolina Gold Rush, the political/economic climate of the times, slavery and plantation life.
