The city’s legendary and elegant department store carries so many scarves by so many brands. I’m a big fan of the ones by Balthazar, the shop’s own prêt-à-porter label. While it isn’t luxury-grade wool, it’s good quality and very warm. It also carries personal significance: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave me one of their scarves as a gift after an interview! This is a rare place where all of the scarves are out on display. At other shops, you often have to ask salespeople to show you each scarf, since they are almost always stored in drawers.
