For a beautiful soft white sand beach experience, drive to the state beach at the very end of the Parker River Refuge (partially dirt road). Turn Left at the Plum Island Grill before you reach the turnpike that leads off the island and go straight until you reach the gate house. There is limited parking down there so go early and tell the gatehouse attendant that is where you are going. Otherwise you will pay to park on the refuge.

A true hidden gem that only locals know about. It is on Plum Island. It is a long drive out to the point, but once you get there it is like stepping onto your own personal island. You do have to drive through the reservation to get there(you have to tell the folks at the gate that you are going to sandy point). You can also pay the day pass and go the the actual reservation for a beautiful scenic walk through the nature reserve.

A hidden gem! Put this on your must do list! Simply one of the best, most secluded beaches around. Located at the southern tip of Plum Island. Entrance is through the Parker River Wildlife Refuge, but it is separate from the Refuge and you do not have to pay. Just tell the gate attendant that you’re visiting Sandy Point only and follow the road to the very end. Parking is extremely limited so either go early or be patient until a spot becomes available. Two parking lots are available.
