Schmitten liegt auf einer Sonnenterrasse über dem Landwasser-Viadukt, dem Wahrzeichen der Rhätischen Bahn, im "Park Ela" dem grössten Naturpark der Schweiz mit unbegrenzten Freizeitmöglichkeiten.

Der bei Naturliebhabern, Ruhesuchenden und Wanderfreunden gleichermaßen beliebte Ort befindet sich auf etwa 650 m Höhe und ist in rund 15 Minuten vom Seeufer aus erreichbar.
