Food Scene

Isolina is a great spot to try real homemade Peruvian food! It looks like an old tavern and has a great ambience. No small gourmet portions like most restaurants. Here they serve real plates, so make sure to ask the waiter about plate sizes because some of them can be shared. It is a perfect place to try some Pisco drinks, specially if you are planning to explore the Barranco nights afterwards. When it first opened in 2014, it was recognised as Lima's new best restaurant. It should definitely be on your list!

One of my favourite restaurants. They have a nice terrace next to the sidewalk which is really enjoyable, specially during summer. This restaurant serves a mix of International and Peruvian food. Not to miss: "Churros con chocolate" for dessert, undoubtedly the best in Lima. If you happen to be in town around mid February, you have to check out their Chinese New Year party. They take up the street and make a really fun gathering. There even appears a dragon that dances around people. It is a blast!

In my opinion, the best burritos and tacos in town. Owned by Stu (originally from England), the place is small but cozy, super relaxed. One of Barrancos well kept secrets. There is no sign on the door nor the exact address written so keep your eyes open or in any case your nose alert :)

Absolutely my favorite spot for breakfast. They make their own bread there so it is fresh and delicious. My top sandwich is the "palta" (avocado), which comes with "characato" cheese. They also have yummy pastries. Don't leave without trying the chocolate croissant!

For sure the best ceviche in Barranco! The owner is an Argentinian who came to live to Peru a long time ago. It is located in and old building/warehouse which gives it an authentic feeling and its walls are covered with football (soccer) memorabilia. Perfect spot to have a good time with friends, drink some beers and watch a football match.

Drinks & Nightlife

I love this bar because it has a lot of personality. Starting with its name: it is called Barra 55 because it only has 55 sq meters. They specialise in Gin & Tonics but they offer other beverages as well. You must try the "tortilla de papa" which is one of the best ones I have tried in Lima so far. It is an ideal place to have a couple of drinks or to start the night if you are planning on going dancing afterwards.

This is one of the most iconic bars in Barranco and has been around for a while. The house itself is magnificent, a mansion of Republican times, built between the years 1875 and 1895. The decoration of each room has been carefully thought and can take you back in time. Ideal to try Pisco Sour or Chicano. They also serve appetizers.

Barranco is a neighbourhood full of history. It has several Colonial mansions that still stand and have been renovated beautifully. One of them is the Cilloniz house, which was for several years an iconic Bar called Mochileros and has now turned into Victoria Bar. There are tables inside the house as well as in the terrace. Enjoy some cocktails or beers and set off afterwards to one of the other bars around.

One of the first healthy food stores in Lima. They have it all: from quinoa hamburguers ready to fry to Maras Salt Mines salt, artisanal beers, gluten free cookies and healthy snacks. If you are craving something yummy but healthy, definitely pay them a visit.

Getting Around

This is the closest Metropolitano Station. The Metropolitano is a bus that has one route only. If you take it direction north from here, in about 15 minutes you will arrive to "Estacion Central", from where you can walk to visit the old part of Lima (downtown). Walk 6 blocks from the station and you will get to Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace, the Cathedral and San Francisco Church. I suggest spending one morning in this area!
