A bit of the French countryside in the Burren. They make lovely, locally grown salads, charcuterie, soups and excellent wine from the owner’s brother’s vineyards in France. A destination for local foods in a unique and beautiful stone cottage.

Given it’s marvellous views, and that it’s the only place for miles in any direction, the food is far, far better than it needs to be. The chowder, seafood plate, and fish and chips are legendary. It’s a perfect place for a lunch and then continue on to Doolin, the Cliffs, and beyond.

Given it’s marvellous views, and that it’s the only place for miles in any direction, the food is far, far better than it needs to be. The chowder, seafood plate, and fish and chips are legendary. It’s a perfect place for a lunch and then continue on to Doolin, the Cliffs, and beyond.
L’Arco is Probably the best value for eating out in the village. Pasta and excellent pizza in a family friendly atmosphere. They’ll happily make pizza for takeaway. If you don’t want to cook, and don’t want to spend much, this is your best bet.

Clean and bright, Monks does what it does very, very well. The chowder is excellent and the fish and chips actually gives O’Donohue’s some solid competition. It’s a bit of a TARDIS – bigger on inside that it seems from outside. There’s more outdoor seating, overlooking the bay, than is obvious at first so don’t be afraid to ask if you’d prefer to eat outside.

There’s more outdoor seating, overlooking the bay, than is obvious at first so don’t be afraid to ask if you’d prefer to eat outside.
Linnanes, like Monks, is on the shore. Also like Monks, it’s also a wonderful seafood restaurant. It’s a little better value and has a more varied menu. If you feel like a bit of a drive, it’s an excellent destination.

Gregan’s is an exceptional experience. If you have the slightest desire for a special dining experience, this is your place. Reservations are a must but the food and the service are perfect. The tasting menu is always the way to go. Despite the price (€90 or more) it is a solid value given the quality, variety, preparation, and presentation. The grounds and views are lovely. The elegant dining room belie a quite Irish – less formal, friendly,and warm –service. But each of the (far more than the 9 promised) courses are completely explained and extraordinary in flavour and creativity. Morris, the restaurant manager runs a wonderful dining room and don’t be afraid to chat to him or any of the
