Northbridge is an inner city suburb of Perth historically separated (but now joined) from Perth's central business district by the Fremantle and Joondalup railway lines. Lively Northbridge is popular for Perth Cultural Centre, with its cluster of modern art galleries. Hip boutiques and Asian eateries line William Street, where stylish cocktail lounges, upscale clubs and casual backpacker bars fill up through the evening. Built in the 19th century, Russell Square has parkland sculptures and a bandstand. The new Yagan Square is a great food hall. Fremantle is a port city in Western Australia that's part of the Perth metropolitan area. It's known for its maritime history, Victorian architecture and remnants from Australia's days as a British penal colony. Fremantle Prison, which housed convicts from the 1850s to 1991, now features re-created cellblocks. The 12-sided Round House, a landmark 1831 building, also briefly functioned as a jail. This is a must visit as it is completely different to Perth City which is all modern buildings. Fremantle has far more of a sense of history and is very particular in maintaining its heritage & history. Visit:- https://www.fremantle.wa.gov.au/ http://www.fremantlestory.com.au/

Just 19 km off the coast of Perth City, but an entire world away, lies the sunny holiday island of Rottnest, blessed with a casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery, dazzling marine life and some of the world's finest beaches and pristine bays. Rottnest Island earned its curious name when in 1696, Dutch explorer, William de Vlamingh, mistook the island's unusual marsupial population for common rats and named it Rottnest - literally translating to 'rats nest'. Today, having a photo taken alongside the 'rats' - known as Quokkas - is one of the main highlights for visitors to the island. Visit:- https://www.experienceperth.com/region/rottnest-island
