Kim Crow was a reporter at the Plain Dealer and ended up writing so many stories about shopping/quality of life that she ditched her journalism career and opened this very successful women's boutique. Think it appeals to the 35 yr old + shopper, eclectic fun artsy clothes that you won't see on everyone else. A bit pricey but good quality (great shoes) and loyal following of women who come in from suburbs 30 minutes away to shop here every season. Low pressure staff, but so attentive they will bring things into dressing room so you don't have to get re-dressed every 5 minutes

Drinks & Nightlife

Beer and a shot joint with something like 4th generation of family running the place; pronounced HOEtz (bastardized version of the acronym Heart of the Southside) this is classic Tremont. Babe Ruth draink beers here 100 years ago (they have his signature of check he used to pay)

Cook vibe, doesn't get going until later, lots of hospitality folks end up here for drinks and small plates after their shift is over, but earlier in the night its a mix of locals ranging from Millennials to empty nesters. Big space upstairs where music not so loud. Good food. Ricardo Sandoval owns this place also (Fat Cats owner)

LOVE - ok, I'm biased, I met my late husband at this restaurant and therefore owner Ricardo Sandoval and I will always be connected :) LOVE the patio (dog friendly) and darling old house that is now a restaurant and has been here longer than most. Grilled octopus is amazing, so is the bahn mi and the braised mushrooms. Could eat here once a week and never be bored. Love sitting at the bar!

Food Scene

Founder Bonnie Flinner (a neighbor on W. 11) just sold this amazing neighborhood hangout to Will Hollingsworth, who owns several other Tremont spots. Great food & drink at affordable prices, small patio in the rear, occasional live music. Place is so crowded on Fridays in Lent (amazing fish fries with pierogi) that you'll wait an hour, but the bartenders are so friendly and even though you feel like you are standing in the middle of the restaurant while you are waiting (you are) it's fun and buzzy and cool and one block from my house

Zach Bruell owns almost a dozen restaurants in town and couldn't be a nicer guy. Parallax is still one of my favorites, amazing fish dishes, fresh sushi, easy to sit at bar by yourself and meet 1/2 dozen fun people and bartenders know how to keep the conversation going. Pomme Frites are YUM. A bit pricier than average, worth every penny. Zack seems to like this restaurant more than any of his others because he's always here (when he's not hitting balls at Washington Golf Course just 10 minutes away)

Arts & Culture

2nd largest theater district in the US (behind NYC) and with more than 10 performing spaces, you get a bit of everything from the touring Broadway shows, to concerts, comedians, Shakespeare......world's largest outdoor chandelier marks the spot (Euclid @ E. 14th) and makes for a great selfie. Theaters are 1920's former vaudeville theaters that were almost torn down in the 1980's to make surface parking lots (GASP) and now host a million patrons a year and have added more economic development to downtown than almost any other venue

If you are 16 or 75, you will love this place. Six floors dedicated to rock music and all the underlying influencing music (country, rap, soul, hiphop etc). Cool movies, awesome gift shop; $25 to get in but you will spend 4 hours in there and not even notice the whole afternoon has flown by. Probably #1 tourist attraction in CLE and you'll hear 10 different languages being spoken as you drift around listening to the great music.

Kathy Owad created this neighborhood diner and now the 2nd generation of family & friends running this popular place (Sat/Sun there will be 25 ppl waiting outside on sidewalk for a table). In a classic "could only happen in Tremont", when Grumpy's original location burned down on Literary just after we moved into Tremont (early 2000's) all the other restaurant owners had a fundraiser to put her back in business. That's how beloved this place is.

A bit more upscale than a typical diner and has a loyal following (was on Diners Drive Ins and Drives and that's all it needed to be on every tourists "to do list". Not much flexibility on menu in terms of asking for substitutions or even having an item taken out of a dish, so if you are lactose intolerant or gluten free etc. may be more challenging. Busy on weekends, but honestly I can never figure out when they start serving food on weekdays (last time I was there they said only coffee and prepared foods (muffins, etc.) until 9 am (who doesn't eat breakfast on a workday until 9 am?)
