Drinks & Nightlife

You can often find me, (Jayne) here watching the sunset sipping on a cocktal or a half litre of cava sangria lying on one of the sofa beds, ask for a blanket if you're feeling a bit chilly. Ambient, atmosphere and music. ££A little more than usual but worth the treat.

Parks & Nature

Timanfaya National Park, one of Spain's 8 national parks and one of two in the Canary Islands, is a unique, barren but colourful, volcanic landscape covering 52km squared. It last erupted in 1736 and destroyed the most fertile area in Lanzarote before flowing into the sea, killing thousands of species of fish. Luckily, nobody died as people were able to flee to the North or other Canary Islands. If you are to visit only one place on your trip, this is the place to go. Take a coach excursion where you will have the best views and information. It is accessible by car, but you will have to transfer to a coach at some point. Unfortunately, walking around Timanfaya is prohibited. View over 30 volcanic cones, therma heated picon baked at an average temperature of 400'C (752'F), man-made geysers shooting steam several meters into the air and even brushwood placed into shallow holes then bursting into flames. Open Monday-Sunday 10am-5:45pm (last coach 17:00). We recommend you allow at least 2 hours to explore.

One of the principal attractions at El Golfo is the famous 'Green Lagoon' - an unusual phenomenon in the cove, where sea water has become trapped in the form of a lake and turned a striking acidic green, due to the algae which lives there.

La Geria is the region of vineyards in Lanzarote, quite different to any other vineyard you may have seen. As it doesn't rain much and is a very windy island, the vines are placed with a wall behind to catch the water in the air. Many 'Bodegas' along the road welcome you to taste the various wines.
