Lunch in “Herdade do Esporão” winery near Reguengos de Monsaraz is a great treat (http://www.esporao.com/en ). In my opinion this is the winery that influenced many of the recent “new world style” wineries in Alentejo that are making waves across the world and is where Luis Duarte, the new up and coming wine maker in this region, spent his early career. They have a great selection of their wines, including single grape Portuguese varietals plus gourmet olive oils. I recommend their Galega varietal of Olive Oil, also available in local supermarkets.
