You can't book, so just turn up put your name down at the desk and go enjoy a pre-dinner drink at a nearby by (recommend Bellota just across the road). It's not a cheap night out, but it's one of my favourites in town.

Right at the doorstep is a great little walk to the top of Mount Albert - easy walk with a short but steady incline and a road around the top of the hill from which you can get a good view and perspective of Auckland. Takes 30 mins round trip walking from my place to get there and back at a reasonable pace.
