Lifeguards patrol the beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The water is normally several degrees warmer there than north of Kitty Hawk. The Buxton Woods Nature Trail is located at 46375 Lighthouse Road, Buxton, Hatteras Island, NC 97109. It is a 3/4 mile loop through a maritime forest. Easy walking but watch out for snakes and other wildlife.

Too bad most of the tourists will head to Starbucks out of habit. But on the other hand, it helps to keep Front Porch from being overcrowded. It is the only coffee we buy and brew at home for our own consumption.

Drinks & Nightlife
Airbnb asks this question regarding "Drinks and Nightlife": "Where do you hang out at night?" Bar scene ... been there / done that ... moved on to something much better. On Friday nights one or both of us will usually be attending the Friday Night Renewal Service at Liberty Christian Fellowship in Colington, the largest Protestant congregation on the OBX. The contemporary worship service generally appeals to all ages. One of our sons often plays lead guitar with the worship band. Service starts at 7 PM and normally lasts until around 9 PM. For us it is the perfect way to start our weekend. There is no high like the Most High.

On Friday nights one or both of us will usually be attending the Friday Night Renewal Service at Liberty Christian Fellowship in Colington, the largest Protestant congregation on the OBX. The contemporary worship service generally appeals to all ages. One of our sons often plays lead guitar with the worship band. Service starts at 7 PM and normally lasts until around 9 PM. For us it is the perfect way to start our weekend. There is no high like the Most High.
