Essentials

Closest grocery store to the house and one of the neatest we've been to. There's a bar with 16 beers on tap, Starbucks and several hot foods bars to choose from if you'd like to take home prepared foods or eat there.

Our favorite spot for a quick and casual breakfast or lunch! Home of the steamed bagel sandwich. We're regulars at this establishment and you will find out why once you try it! For the morning hours, the “Hangover Helper” bagel is where it's at and comes with a free beverage. Greatest cure ever! For the PM hours, try the “South End Special” or the “Italiano” bagel. Ask the staff for a sharpie so you can make your mark on the restaurant walls.

Favorite mexican spot in town! Laid back, budget friendly and good for families. We recommend the tacos, arepas and nachos (big enough for 2). Tuesdays are $1 tacos.

Specializing in authentic Venezuelan arepas and one of our favorite local hidden gems. You can't go wrong with the Reina Pepiada or La Del Gato. Delicioso! It's better to go here for lunch as their dinner hours are sporadic. Tell the owner, Eunice, we say hello!

True neapolitan style pizza. They import all ingredients from Italy, even the water! Our favorites are the Margherita and the Raffaele. Sit out on the cute patio if it's nice out - the inside can get a little loud sometimes. Half price bottles of wine on Mondays and Tuesdays. Salute!

Casual Peruvian dining. Known for their roasted chicken, but our favorites are the quinoa stuffed avocado, the tacu bowl and the plantains. Don't forget to try the sauces located towards the back. We like mixing the green and yellow sauce together. If you have room for dessert, the Tres Leches is spectacular!

New trendy spot in the neighborhood with a hip industrial chic environment. The menu is inventive, but there's something for everyone. Our favorites are the Potato Croquettes, Veggie Burger and Roasted Beets Salad. It gets packed on weekends and they don't accept reservation - try a craft cocktail during your wait. Located across the street from Triple C Brewery, so make sure to check that out as well. A 12 minute walk from the house!

Our favorite spot for a nice dinner Uptown. The Cellar is an underground place that has a speakeasy vibe. Our go-to dishes are the Caramelized Brussels, Truffle Mac and Cheese (amazing!!!) and the Filet Mignon (one of the best in town). Don't forget to ask your waiter for a tour of the Beer Cellar to see some rare and exotic beers! Great craft cocktails too. Reservations recommended - they are on Open Table.

Great full service breakfast spot! Our favorites are the Sunrise Burrito and the Stuffed French Toast (PB & banana or Strawberry & Cream Cheese.) They also have a full bar, so save room for a Bloody Mary or Mimosa. There's typically a wait, so it's worth getting there a bit early or later. But if you do have to wait, you can always pop into the Tuesday Morning store and browse around.

North Carolina BBQ! Pork is the traditional, but the chicken is also delicious. The mac and cheese is nice and creamy. And you must save room for banana pudding! It is tucked in the back of a shopping center and parking can sometimes be tough, but it's worth it!

Drinks & Nightlife

There's a good chance you may run into us here. It's our go-to spot and Charlotte's oldest brewery, which started in 2009. Huge outdoor biergarten - great for day drinking! Check out the free tour. It was awarded America’s best brewery tour by USA Today. No trip to OMB is complete without a soft German pretzel (with beer cheese...MUST get the beer cheese)! The Copper beer is their flagship and a solid choice. Kid and dog friendly!

Home to one of Regina's all time favorite beers, Good Morning Vietnam (coffee vanilla blonde ale). Fun atmosphere, but can get loud when it's busy, so save the heart-to-heart conversations for another stop.

Specializing in Belgium-inspired beers. They brew the best (and only) White Ale in Charlotte. It gives Allagash a run for their money. For a different take on the White Ale, try the Raspberry White Ale. It was a 2016 U.S. Open Beer Championship Gold Medal Winner. Tuesdays are Trivia nights.

Entertainment & Activities

A fun way to see some different Charlotte neighborhoods. You'll get history, comedy and drinking games ... all on wheels! NOT for the easily offended and typically R-rated! The tour leaves from the 7th Street Market in Uptown Charlotte. We recommend having dinner at the 7th Street Market before the tour and also grabbing some beer/wine there to take with you on the bus.

Parks & Nature

The most popular park in Charlotte - where the locals go! It's 98 acres and has lots to offer - nature trails, baseball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields, a lake, grilling stations, playgrounds, grassy areas for a picnic, volleyball and paved walkways for walking or biking. Bring your Eno for a relaxing afternoon! The park entrance that's closest to the house (1.4 miles) is on Princeton Avenue.

Described as a "public park that winds through the very heart of our city.” Specifically, it’s a 4.5-mile urban trail located alongside the Light Rail, great to walk or bike. Good stops along the trail are Good Bottle Co., Sycamore Brewing, Triple C Brewery, Lenny Boy Brewery, Suffolk Punch and Atherton Market. Have fun finding the 3 magic carpet murals and the "Before I Die" wall along the trail! Very popular and safe for evening walks/runs/bike rides. Closest access point from the house is at the New Bern Light Rail station, about a 12 minute walk.
