Really basic, good food, great coffee and totally relaxed. Good brunch, friendly staff, and a quiet place to chat, read a book or get some work done. In the warmer months, the patio is a fun place for people watching.

One of the last remaining Jewish bakeries in this area, it offers the lightest cakes, as well as good bread and other baked goods.

Kensington Market was historically where successive waves of immigrants set up their wares to sell. The roots of the Irish, Chinese, Ashkenazi, Carribean, Eastern European, Latin American and African diasporas have all left their imprint on this fascinating neighbourhood. Small shops, resos, bong shops, cafés (and the best coffee in the city at any of 6 different spots!) are only part of the attraction. This is the best people watching ever! Do not miss the graffiti in the laneways and take some time to follow some of the lane ways to check out the creative use of space: there are hidden streets behind and around the streets on the map.

One of Toronto's active theatres, with their regular season from September to May. Tarragon also has touring shows and hosts independent productions and is one site for the Toronto Fringe Festival from July 4 to 15: the Fringe will showcase over 160 productions, many or which are within 15 to 20 minutes walk from here.

Parks & Nature

the Islands are in lake Ontario, accessible by a regular ferry, and you can get spectacular views of the city. There are several good cafés to be found. A tiny set of jewels just off Toronto. The landscape is flat, and it's great for walking, jogging, or use one of the city's rental bikes t get around.

A great break from the citiness of Toronto, you can walk through wooded areas, follow groomed trails, or take a picnic to watch Shakespeare in the Park (July to September). Feed the ducks and have a look at our celebrity capybaras you will find right next to the Scottish Longhorn cows. Unless they have broken out, and are running wild in the city.

Hidden gems amid the towers and residential neighbourhoods, the ravines that run through the city are linear parks that were carved out of the city by retreating glaciers before Toronto was Toronto.

Much of the history of Toronto is obscured by a desire to cover it up with the new and up-to-date, but the Brickworks is a precious exception. The buildings are reclaimed after multiple decades of disuse, and the old brick factory is now a cultural and environmental centre, set by the historically significant Don River.
