The best place to eat in town... Okay, the only place in town to eat but "El Mex" has great food, most everything is homemade with just about everything on the menu being a special dish including some great american items. El Mexicano opens at 11am on weekdays and 9am on weekends, usually closes around 8pm and most often has live music on Friday nights.

If you plan ahead you can pick up some great food as you pass Mill Creek Cattle Company in Mentone on your way to the mountains. If not, drive off the mountain to get to this gem but the drive is most often beautiful and the rewards once you arrive some 20 minutes later are well worth it. In addition to great food they have a full bar and entertainment on many nights. They are one of the few places that have an "outside" dining area that is basically inside with decent air conditioning making it an added bonus on these hot summer days/nights during the COVID issues.

Under new management in our neighbor community of Angelus Oaks, The Oaks offers a nice menu in a great atmosphere. A short 15 minute drive simply head back down Valley of the Falls Dr. to Hwy 38 (3 miles), turn right on Hwy 38 and head up the mountain for 5 miles... The Oaks is on your left.

Yucaipa offers some great options like Hickory Ranch and Jose's but the recent opening of Jakes has been a real plus. While their Italian food is top notch so is their American fare and beers. Their dinner salad is the best ever and the staff on top of their game.

An ole fashion General Store that offers most everything you might need, except maybe fresh meat.
The only place in Forest Falls to buy food, firewood, fire department T's and sweats, OTC medicine, liquor , ATM and so much more. You will be amazed as to how much they have fit into a fairly small space.

Hiking the local area

CabINN of the Falls is conveniently located to our two primary trails and close enough to leave your vehicle at the CabINN and walk to either the Momyer Trailhead 1/2 mile away or 3/4 of a mile to the Vivian Trailhead. While Forest Falls enjoy's some of the lowest crime in all of SoCal it is true that leaving your vehicle unattended overnight in a trailhead parking lot does increase the chances of a break-in or theft. We suggest leaving it at the CabINN.
Big Falls is Southern California's tallest year-round waterfall offering great viewing from our main road or after a short hike on a dirt trail you can enjoy a cooling spray or dip in the warm seasons or spectacular ice formations in the heart of winter. The trail in winter can be ice covered... use caution and proper gear. Hike to Big Falls from the Cabinn in about 30 minutes or drive and park (get your Adventure Pass from Elkhorn Store first) in the Falls Recreation area and take the short hike down and across Mill Creek and then follow the trail along Falls Creek. Caution, do NOT go beyond the pipe rail observation point as numerous injuries have occurred above that point, some fatal. Visit Big Falls in the early morning before the tourists arrive.
