Mid Century Sioux Falls

Mid Century Shopping

You can tell from our home that we love 1950's and 60's-style. If you have a passion for mid century, there a few stores I'd recommend. These are my regular go-to places for mid century furniture and decor.
This store is in Dell Rapids, a short (and often pretty) drive from Sioux Falls. The owner, Joshua, is generally willing to do appointments, and usually has regular hours on Saturday. Unfortunately, he's closing it this summer, so you have just a few more months available to pick up new pieces. His inventory is awesome and frequently stacked almost to the ceiling. I always find something that I need to take home.

This delightful little shop in downtown Sioux Falls has vintage furniture, clothing and much more. I've seen everything from antique kitchen goods to cameras to beautiful furniture pieces. If you love vinyl, make sure to check out their record bins for reasonably priced treasures.

This book store and general store was one of our first downtown revitalization hotspots. It is a restored building from the 1890s. You can find interesting and local books, unique gifts and restored fountain pens. They have a very interesting collection of antique "oddities" in the back room. Their display windows are always worth a stop--particularly over the holidays.

Mid Century Eats and Drinks

We've got a few places where you can grab a drink or a meal with some serious mid-century flavor.
The Hello Hi is a retro-flavored cocktail bar in downtown Sioux Falls. It's a great place to grab a drink with a little umbrella. Yes, we have a tiki bar and it's pretty awesome.

The B & G Milkyway first opened in 1954. There are several locations, but the original stand on 12th street still delights customers every spring and summer. We recommend the dipped cones, foot-long hotdogs, and the pizza burger.

This retro-looking diner was actually built in Florida and shipped to Sioux Falls in the 1990s. That said, it has retro booths and a soda fountain and is a nice place for a meal or a treat in downtown Sioux Falls.
