The promenade or boardwalk is a great place to stroll any time of the day or night, any time of the year. Shops, restaurants, cafes and other diversions at Pier Village make it a perfect full-day destination.

Want a more natural beach experience? This short strip of sand is part of the Monmouth County Park System. It has parking (for a fee) and bathrooms/showers. Nice playground for kids. Places for picnics.

Recently upgraded to showcase the old battery placements and updated bathroom facilities and other amenities like bike repair and water stations - the trails are quite extensive. There is a relatively easy paved path that curves around to a beautiful view over the Shrewsbury River to the ocean. If you go on a summer evening there is a canopy of trees that is home to all the fireflies! It's not uncommon to see a wide variety of birds and wildlife. Dirt trails offer a more rugged terrain for walking, running or biking.
The other entrance in Atlantic Highlands (buttermilk valley) has a trail that is not quite 5k with lots of hills if you're looking for a good workout.

1402 Portland RdRecently upgraded to showcase the old battery placements and updated bathroom facilities and other amenities like bike repair and water stations - the trails are quite extensive. There is a relatively easy paved path that curves around to a beautiful view over the Shrewsbury River to the ocean. If you go on a summer evening there is a canopy of trees that is home to all the fireflies! It's not uncommon to see a wide variety of birds and wildlife. Dirt trails offer a more rugged terrain for walking, running or biking.

You can usually go up the lighthouse on weekends, and there is a restored officer's quarters home facing the bay. Not to mention several beaches for great swimming and sunbathing, including the famous Gunnison Beach nude beach if you're feeling adventurous.
*NOTE be very careful on the bay side for ticks!! There is also allot of debris in the bay so it's not really suitable for wading/swimming.

Lots of our guests have found Max's to be a great relief from the other tourist traps. Great place to get a burger and a cold drink. It's a favorite of the locals. Low key and low budget.

REALLY fresh takeout Chinese food. Run by a couple - they don't have employees to do delivery, but honestly it's 4 minutes from our house. Real veggies (not frozen crap) and super fresh shrimp. Not skimpy with the meats either.

A bit of a drive, but REAL BUTTERCREAM is worth the trip. Old fashioned rotating cake towers!! My favorite is the chocolate cake with coffee frosting (not mocha.)

Still classic NJ orchard fruits and apple cider, cider donuts and pies that rival my prize-winning pies, perfect eclairs with real custard, tasty sandwiches if you want to enjoy a fall after noon lunch at their picnic area.

Red Bank is a very walkable town. There are lots of unique shops including my own custom jewelry studio (The Art of Jewelry) and eateries. It's also home to Two Rivers Theater and the Count Basie Theater.
Some of my favorite restaurants are Toast for breakfast, Teak's rooftop bar, Jamian's backyard seating area and Sogo Sushi for the best sushi EVER, cooked or raw. Antointette's Boulangerie has beautiful pastries. Monmouth Meats was featured in Gordon Ramsey's show. Fins & Feathers is a fun pet shop. Comic book fan? Don't miss Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash. The Galleria is also worth a visit, especially on Sunday for the farmer's market.
The riverfront is a lovely place to enjoy a picnic lunch or sip a coffee.
