The Atacama Salt Flat is a wonderful spot for birdwatching activities. Depending on the season, you can find 3 different species of Flamingos and migratory birds. It is also a great spot to see the sunset. It's located 1 hour drive from our location heading south. Tickest are to be paid at the entrance.

Both places are located over 13000 feet, make sure you acclimatize one or two days in San Pedro area before ging up to the highlands to avoid altitude sickness. Book your tickets in advance. Bring warm clothes and snacks for your adventure!

Simply cross the road in front of our house to see the most amazing night sky on your own or join us in our Astronomy Safari, where you will unfold the misteries of the universe using a 12 inch Dobsonian telescope. Shop in Calama WARNING
Before coming to town, most people do their groceries in Calama either in Jumbo or Lider supermarkets. Please be aware that although prices may be more convenient and with a wider variety of products, ther is also a high risk of getting robbed at the supermarket's parking lot.
Calama has become a dangerous place in terms of carjacking. So, we recommend not to leave any of your personal belongings in the car while shopping there or to shop in directly in San Pedro for more safeness.

The best option to explore the area while staying with us is renting a car at the airport. Companies like Europcar and Chilean Rent a Car have offices there. Book in advance because they tend to sold out.
