Music

My favorite authentic speakeasy started in the early years of Prohibition during the 1920s. The musicians are absolutely amazing! Make sure you get there a little bit earlier for front-row seats and an incredible jazz experience. Cash only and BYOB!

The iconic Apollo theatre where many of the Motown greats started out at the famous amateur night. The Apollo grew to prominence during the Harlem Renaissance of the pre-World War II years. Billing itself as a place "where stars are born and legends are made," the Apollo became famous for launching the careers of artists such as Billie Holiday, King Curtis, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Lauryn Hill, and Mary J. Blige From the fantastic warm-up band and host to the amazingly talented children. To the adults again who were all talented. People will be encouraged to clap or boo the adults as this was amateur night. In 1983, both the interior and exterior of the building were designated as New York City Landmarks, and the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

I highly recommend Met-Cloisters. You may use the same ticket that you got from Met Fifth Avenue for free admission. It's a European medieval architecture located in Washington Heights, contributed by the Rockefeller family. Amazing surroundings and a nice place for a short hike.

Merchant’s clerk, Revolutionary War soldier, first Secretary Treasury of the United States: Alexander Hamilton’s life is memorialized at The Grange, the home he built on a country estate in uptown Manhattan. A faithful testament to early American architecture, it stands today as a tribute to its first owner’s many accomplishments. Hamilton Grange National Memorial is open year-round and is located in Manhattan's Hamilton Heights Historic District. Admission to the site is free, and it is open Friday through Sunday. Self-guided tours are available on a reservation basis. Junior Ranger Programs are available for the kids, and the bookstore offers Alexander Hamilton memorabilia and publications for purchase.

Yankee Stadium is the home field for Major League Baseball's New York Yankees and Major League Soccer's New York City FC. The new stadium replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009 and is the third-largest stadium in MLB by seating capacity. It is located one block north of the original, on the 24-acre former site of Macombs Dam Park; the 8-acre site of the original stadium is now a public park called Heritage Field. The new stadium is meant to evoke elements of the original Yankee Stadium, both in its original 1923 state and its post-renovation state in 1976. The exterior resembles the original look of the 1923 Yankee Stadium. The interior, a modern ballpark with greater space and increased amenities, features a playing field that closely mimics the 1988–2008 dimensions of the old stadium.

St. Nicholas Park is a public park in Manhattan, New York City, between the neighborhoods of Harlem, Hamilton Heights, and Manhattanville. The park was created in 1895 when the first land for the park was acquired upon the condemnation of the Croton Aqueduct. After the additional property was acquired, construction on the park began in 1906. Like the streets on its eastern and western borders, the park was named after St. Nicholas, the patron saint of Amsterdam whose likeness adorned one of the ships that brought the first Dutch settlers to New Amsterdam.

Restaurant & Bar

ROKC is a contemporary twist on restaurants that were found in traditional Japanese port towns during the Meiji Period, when Japan first became open to the rest of the world after nearly two centuries of seclusion. Not unlike these ports, ROKC is where East meets West, where the past fuses with the present. At ROKC, we specialize in ramen - noodles of Chinese origin, and cocktails - first brought to Japanese ports by western countries. We’ve since honed and perfected both in an effort to bring a taste of the past into the future.

Juliet and Justine Masters are New York natives who have lived in Harlem for the last 20 years. Their restaurant, The Edge Harlem is an ode to the community and pays homage to the spirit of Harlem honoring those who came before. The building that the restaurant resides in has its own unique history and was a meeting place for key figures of the Harlem Renaissance such as Langston Hughes. Established on Edgecombe avenue in 2014, it is known for its cozy rustic décor and creative food – reflecting the siblings British and Jamaican heritage, spiced up with a healthy dose of New York.

Manhattanville Coffee was founded in Harlem with the goal of creating a neighborhood coffee shop that would provide quality products & services in an environment designed to make people from all walks of life feel at home. Big City Coffee. Small Town Service. In this coffee shop, a sophisticated coffee & pastry line, in a warm, small-town setting is provided. While not technically located in Manhattanville, the name it chose tells the story they are looking to tell. "Manhattan" tells of big-city sophistication while "-ville" tells the story of a small town vibe.

North-western Chinese food is hearty and unapologetic in its use of robust spices and flavors. The hand-pulled noodles of the Xinjiang region are unique and different from more commonly known styles that come from Lanzhou/Shaanxi (which are pulled very thin, something made possible only with the use of an alkaline additive). The noodles are made using just water and flour, and are rustic and imperfect by design. They are characterized by variations in thickness and uniformity, which makes eating them a fun textural journey! Cumin Lamb and Ding Ding Noodles are the most popular, a chopped noodle that is a regional specialty that could be described as being like a mini Chinese gnocchi and are super addictive!
