While modern-day Highlands Ranch was just founded in 1981, the Denver metropolitan area comes with its own rich history dating back more than 100 years. The town sits within Douglas County, and is a great spot to check out if you’re already visiting the Mile High City.

The Metro District Board of Directors and staff invite you to step back in time, learn about our community’s heritage – and attend or host an event at the historic Mansion.

On Chatfield's trails, you can escape the boredom of the gym by taking a morning jog, exploring natural areas that border the reservoir, leisurely pedaling your bicycle through the park, or riding a horse into the sunset. Trail maps are available at the park's main entrances.
