My favourite brunch places

The food here is delicious! I As well as fresh bread, cakes and pastries from their famous bakery, they bring an exciting fusion flavours to brunch menu - katsu, kimchi as well as delicious favourites. Locally sourced ingredients. Relaxed atmosphere.

Enjoy a coffee curled up on the sofa by their fire, sit at a long wooden table enjoying one of their popular brunches. They smoke a lot of their fish and meat themselves but also have vegan options. Getting there: It's about a 15-20 minute drive from the house. Or you can get one of the hourly 316 buses - the bus stop is a minute walk from the house.

Places to eat and drink

A friendly local shop serving coffee, ice-cream and light lunch (home made soup, haggis sausage rolls, mini-quiches). You can sit in - there's a fire through winter, or cross the road to the tables and chairs overlooking Loch Long. Getting there: It's a lovely 20 - 25 min walk along Shore Road - beautiful architecture, trees and sea views to enjoy. Or five mins in the car.

This is a local pub that does good fish and chips, including a vegan version! The kitchen closes early, so make sure you've got your order in by 7.50pm. How to get there: It's a 5 - 7 minute walk from the house.

This place does a great coffee. The window seats have amazing views out to the Clyde and over to Kilcreggan - you can look back at the house while having a latte!

Things to do

The Cobbler is a popular climb with (on a clear day!) incredible views over the peninsula out towards Arran. The Cobbler is Ben Arthur. Part of the Arrochar Alps, Ben Arthur has three peaks, and is said to look like a cobbler bent over their work – hence the name! Getting there: Drive up to the village or Arrochar at the top of Loch Long.

You can do a day trip to Glen Coe from the house. There's skiing in winter and atmospheric views all year around.
