Whenever I don't know where to go, I go to Glady's. It's chill and cheap and probably my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Simple Caribbean classics in a cool, casual atmosphere. Try the jerk fried wings, or the curry goat with a Dark and Slushy (frozen rum and ginger beer) to wash it all down.

This is primary a catering company, but they also sell sandwiches out of a small window that faces the street. There's no indoor seating, but the sandwiches are incredible, artful and well-priced.

This is more than just a restaurant, it's a food court cum beer hall with arguably the best coffee in the neighborhood. Celebrity chef brothers, Max and Eli Sussman, have not 1 but 2 restaurants in this establishment and the bar has an impressive selection of craft and rare beers.

Highly recommended Caribbean restaurant. Someone who knows how to cook food is cooking this food. Virtually everything on the menu requires a long, slow simmer, so there’s no cooking to order—when the kitchen runs out of something, they’re out, and you’re out of luck. But with such an outstanding roster of dishes, just take whatever’s there. You’re not likely to be disappointed. BYOB

Technically this restaurant is in Prospect Heights and is truthfully a bit of walk from the apt. BUT the ramen here is the best in NYC. Trust me - I've tried it all (Jin, Ipuddo, Ivan, Toto... & many, many more). These guys are Momofuku alums and they know what they're doing. You'll be tempted to try the Limited Edition Pork Bone, but don't be fooled - the Kimchi Ramen and the Veggie Miso are better. The pork buns are also good.

This is my favorite restaurant that I've never eaten at. Every time I walk by, I see lots of cute, happy faces - both behind the service counter and from the customer side. The decor is charmingly nautical-themed and decked out with red, white and blue. The Crabby Shack black-owned, which means something in this rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, and I've heard the crab is quite tasty. Too bad I'm not a fan of shellfish!
